Serving Bannertown Fire Dept. from 1964-1994
Charles Pardue loved and had compassion for his fellow person and continued to serve the people of the community as an active firefighter after he could have retired with full benefits. He served Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department well as a member of its board of directors and a treasurer he guarded and handled the community's funds with great care.
Serving Bannertown Fire Dept. from 1981-2007
In July 2007, our department suffered a tragic loss. Bruce Smith, engineer, tragically lost his life in an automobile accident. Bruce faithfully served Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years. You could find him driving a fire truck and operating its pumps on almost any fire call. Bruce will forever be remembered for the impact he had on Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department and his community.

In 1963, Charles "Punk" Smith, along with others saw an opportunity to make a difference in their community. Punk devoted over 50 years to the fire service. His passion was teaching the next generation techniques, especially LP Gas. His legacy will continue to shine in the firefighters he mentored throughout Surry County and the state of North Carolina.
